Ok. Let's break it down: How could the teacher hadn't noticed that she was reversing the car to find what she really couldn't and wouldn't have expected? Was she in some sort of a panicked situation? Was she in a rush or something that she didn't realize that her gear was in R mode? Plus, it's a 40 year-old local woman. I doubt this would happen on this blessed month if she were to just take it easy with what was going through her mind.
