London Life. [Pt 5]

(Supposedly December 29th’s post)

Happy 18th Birthday to Hamidi Halidi!

You have been a superbly insane friend to me for the past three years and I am grateful to have met someone like you. I hope you enjoyed your birthday. May Allah bless you always.

I have had too much laughs today – especially during dinner at Satay House. Too much! I was there with my two brothers, Tayib, Ka Mash and my other relatives. We sat and ordered in a separate table. I was eavesdropping a little bit and got to know a few information about the waiter who took our order. He knew how to speak a little Malay too! His name was Dabith – pronounced [day-beet]. He’s Spanish. He has worked in the restaurant for 10 months now. He told my relatives that he didn’t speak English at all during his stay here in London, but learnt slowly with his foreign friends. He stays in an apartment mixed with Italians, Brazilians, English and Spanish. Okay, I think that’s too much. Hahaha.

Anyway, we waited for our meals for a very long time while my other relatives got their orders without any complaints. Good thing my drink came on time. Malik’s as well, but not for the others around our table. Ka Mash ordered ice milo, Hakiim ordered teh tarik while Tayib just got his noodles. He asked for soya sauce which didn’t even come on time! I was cracking jokes about it. I laughed too hard ‘til I almost cramped my stomach. Eventually, the whole table laughed which attracted my relatives’ table and the others around us. Tayib was officially the boy who cried soya sauce! Seriously. What was taking them so long to bring in Tayib’s soya sauce? Even Hakiim’s teh tarik and Ka Mash’s ice milo didn’t come! I ordered another orange juice and guess what he gave me? Mango juice.

Sorry to say, but I am not going to dine in that restaurant ever again. The waiters are friendly, but the service is bad.

We finally got ourselves the formal wears for New Year’s. Thanks to Tayib for picking them out for us when we had absolutely no idea what to pick – oh, and Pong too! We wasted an hour waiting for the queue up at Nando’s Restaurant. Nevertheless, food’s good.

The bun looks funny – lemon-shaped whaaaaat.

Sadly for us, we didn’t have anywhere else to go because time was running out. I checked out the game store for a while and there were Facebook game credits – for example; FarmVille, Mafia Wars etc. I wanted to buy them – maybe for the guys back in Brunei, but I didn’t want to wait in the long queue. I couldn’t even find the PS3 headset. All I could find were the Bluetooth headsets. Seriously, there were queues in front most of the stores because it was really crowded! We left early as expected because we wanted to go to Winter Wonderland again, but this time with Abang Farid and his friends.

It was really cold as usual. Like I said, a pair of gloves aren’t enough to withstand the weather! But I did get the chance to buy a new brown snowcap and an owl-looking snowcap for myself and Muizzah’s black beanie. I’ll find your blue beanie soon, yeah? And to Aizzatul, I will THINK about buying you a new phone. I didn’t go on any of the rides today. I didn’t want to anyway. Honestly, I’ve had enough rides for now.

We’re safely back home now. Thanks to Pong for calling a cab for us. Looking forward to see you again! Especially before you fly back to Brunei!

Last night was hell of a fun! We went to the gaming arcade down in Queens Mews, London. I exchanged £10 worth of tokens. The first game I played was Guitar Hero. The guitar’s buttons were kind of hard, but I enjoyed playing Cliffs of Dover! 8D After that, Hakiim and I played in this shark simulator. I forgot the game’s name though, but it’s similar to The House of the Dead II. I remember playing this game long time ago when I was little. I didn’t know one token was enough for two players. I inserted two. O.O We were so far in the game when Tayib called us saying that he already booked a bowling lane for us. We just left the game − unattended.

While they were bowling away, I remembered that I still had some tokens in my pocket. I took two and played the crane machine. You know, the game where you’ll get the prize if you gripped the chosen toy correctly. I tried it six times, but with no luck. I got some tokens again and one machine caught my attention. The machine was called ‘BarBerCut’. The prizes were iPod Shuffles! As soon as I saw a man winning one, I decided to try it out. I don’t care if I looked funny when I placed my face against the wall, at least I got the scissors to loosen up the string of my chosen iPod. I didn’t know it had to be cut a few times. I thought a slash of the scissors was already able to cut the string. There were lots of people behind us. Auntie Flor was screaming away and kept inserting tokens so that I could get the chance to win the iPod. I couldn’t believe my eyes when the string snapped down and there it was; my very own blue iPod Shuffle! I left my bowling game just for it. Hahaha!

Not long after that, Ka Belle asked me to try out another game which also wins you iPod Shuffles. But in this game, you have to stack up squares until the very top and from there, you get to choose your prize. It looked easy at first, but when it came to the top, things came down to the bottom. Ka Belle and I reached the last square, but failed to win the major prize because we were just one box away from the stacking box.

We were close to our 8 o’clock movie, Gulliver’s Travels. We bought our nachos, drinks etc. I’d say, the movie was awesomely good! I don’t know if it’s out in Brunei yet, but you should definitely watch it! I don’t want to spoil the whole movie for you. J

(Supposedly December 26th’s post)

Around 4:30 PM earlier, Tayib and I went to ODEON to book our tickets for Boxing Da−−I mean, Gulliver’s Day’s new movie, Gulliver’s Travels. There weren’t many people as I expected it to be. What I heard from Tayib is that most of the shops are closed and some on their way closing today. I guess I’ll be shopping for my suit for new year’s tomorrow then. But the day is not yet over! We’re going ice-skating later around Pong’s place – before the movie, I mean. Can’t wait!

Oh yes! I feel disappointed today. I’ll tell you why. First of, after we bought the tickets from ODEON, I wanted to check out the small game store nearby. I went in and I felt blessed to see such prices on the games. I saw Borderlands, but it wasn’t the GOTY Edition. I tried looking for Mafia II, but nowhere to be seen. I wanted to buy Modern Warfare II because I think the multiplayer is better than Black Ops’. I grabbed the game and handed it over to the cashier. Hard to believe, but it was an embarrassing moment for me. This is how the conversation went:

Me: I’d like to buy this, please.

Cashier: Umm.. do you have an ID with you?

Me: [gives confused look] No. (I thought he was asking for a UK ID)

Cashier: Are you even 18?

Me: No.

Cashier: Sorry, but I can’t sell you this game.

I wanted to take the game back to its place, but he insisted on doing it himself. Maybe he thought I was going to steal or something. I don’t know, but whatever. I have absolutely no idea that you needed to show some ID to buy games rated 18+ here. It’s better in Singapore and Brunei. I don’t know about the other countries though. This sucks! So then, I left the place with a grin.

Merry Christmas!

Sorry I don't have the time to update my blog. The place I am staying at has no active internet connection except for Tayib's and where I'm at right now. I'm at my cousin's place now. When I have the time to update, I will. Don't worry. I miss you guys back in Brunei already. XX

London Life.

I know I was supposedly to blog on December 22nd, 2010, but I didn’t have the time to do it, plus there was no internet connection so here it is. It marked my best pal, Nurul and my cousin, Rae’s birthday. Let me just wish them a very happy belated birthday! Too bad I can’t be there on Nurul’s birthday or my cousin’s. I hope you guys had a blast and enjoyed every bit of it. May Allah bless the both of you always.

Happy 17th Birthday to Rae Yussof!

Happy 16th Birthday to Hafizah Sufian!

(Supposedly December 23rd’s post)

Finally we have reached London! Can you believe a 14-hour flight? I think some people have had worse! There’s much to do while you’re up in the air. You know, I fell asleep while I was listening to Enrique Iglesias’ album, Euphoria. I only fell asleep for a while, but when I had already woken up, I proceeded to watch an old killer shark movie, Jaws. I don’t know why − for two flights now − the stewardesses kept asking if we asked for seafood meals or not. Weird, but you should’ve seen how she looked like! Hot, like a sauna. Hahaha. Malik and Hakiim were playing chess against each other while Tayib was sleeping. Honestly, he sort of slept halfway through the flight! He must’ve been really tired. Okay. Less about the flight and more about beautiful England, shall we?

It’s really freezing here! If I’m not mistaken, it’s 0⁰C and it continues dropping slowly. Three stacks of shirts and a thick jacket are still not enough to withstand the cold − even wearing a pair of gloves isn’t! Luckily I have this Russian-looking snow cap, but – THIS ISN’T ENOUGH AS WELL! Spitting smoke each time we’re outside, shivering at times when I walk downtown, the cold wind blowing against my frozen face – I really am not the type of person to cope with the cold. We didn’t go anywhere on the arrival day because we wanted to rest. Besides, it was already late and Tayib didn’t have any plans so we await for the next day. Guess what? We’re considered lucky because we have got a room that we can share enough for three here where the escorts are staying in, but there’s no active internet connection and we can’t seem to fix the TV in order to play our PS3. It’s an old SONY TV and we’ve pressed every button on both of the controllers – but to no avail. There’s not much to do here but to put on some music, watch TV and play games on our laptops. Hakiim played this bunny-hop map in Counter Strike while I played The Sims 3.

It wasn’t long until that night, Ka Mash brought us out to watch a movie and go to Winter Wonderland. We booked tickets to watch Tron in 3D. If you have ever wondered how do I watch 3D movies because I am already wearing spectacles, I just wear them both together. That way, I can see clearly and 3D-ly. Hehehe! Tron’s not a bad movie. The soundtracks are nice and the graphics are sci-rific! I like how they designed the whole thing especially the attires. I wish I could get one of those.

After that, we took a taxi to where Ka Pong is staying. It’s good to meet my fine-looking aunties – Rosemary was there too! I didn’t think she would tag along. It’s nice to meet you, by the way. We took a taxi again to go to Winter Wonderland. The night was so cold and we only had an hour or so to spend time there. I don’t know why, but the token booth didn’t accept the old notes. When I bought a new pair of gloves, I asked the salesman if he accepted old notes. He did! He also didn’t know about not accepting the old notes thing. Well, money’s money – you want ‘em, you take ‘em. You don’t want ‘em, you don’t take ‘em. We went on this ride where it brings you back and forth like a swing gone crazy. I don’t remember its name though. I thought it was going to be an “okay” ride. I was wrong. It turned out to be a heart-pulling ride! Malik was screaming, I was talking to Malik at that time – Oh! I’ve been swearing ‘holy shit’ ever since I rode on the rides in Universal Studios, Singapore. Figures. – and Hakiim was closing his eyes. It was a crazy ride, indeed! Tayib and Ka Mash rode this ride – a mini ferris wheel with rotating seats. They were the only pair who rode the ride alone! It was near closing time and out last ride was the Britannia bus. This one’s heart-pulling too! I was sitting on the “very brave” section with Ka Nabilah and Muhdiah. Scream turned to laughter because of the others on the opposite side.

We wanted to have dinner so we were asked to meet up at C&R Malaysian Restaurant, but when we walked a long way there, the shop was closed! We met up with Tayib and Ka Mash after, what – half an hour of waiting? From there, we planned to stick together. We ate at Khan’s Restaurant. You know, we had trouble ordering because the waiter was being funny. Most of us ordered butter chicken and when the food came, it didn’t look like butter chicken at all. Maybe it’s just how they cook it. The toilets are far down below! You have to descend stairs and make turns in order for you to reach the toilet. Seriously. What if someone really had to go when he had already waited for half an hour? That’d be funny, yet embarrassing!

It was a super freezing fun night! I enjoyed it though I didn’t have the chance to visit the game store. Maybe I’ll do today. Wait – it’s December 23rd now in London, right? ==

Welcome to Singapore! [Pt 7]

I didn't go out today, but to stay in and pack up for tomorrow's departure to London. I guess I'm going to have to say goodbye to Singapore. I'm going to miss this beautiful suite and the good services. I was watching the news last night and they mentioned something about passengers scrambling back home for Christmas and delays of flights. I hope everything goes on smoothly and there aren't any changes.

Welcome to Singapore! [Pt 6]

I just can't wait to finish blogging about today's activities. I'M SO TIRED! So here goes nothing..

I didn't have enough sleep from last night. I slept around 3 AM and had to wake up around 9 because we were going to go to Universal Studios. I was a little tired, but not until I entered Universal Studios. It felt like walking in a world of cartoon and it was fanta-bulous! First, we went to Far Far Away and rode the first roller-coaster ride. We have like this express tickets where we don't have to queue up like other people so we were kind of lucky. Hehe. Although the ride was short, it was fun!

And then, we went inside the Shrek 4D auditorium. It was my first time watching a show in.. 4D. I didn't know you'll actually encounter the effects from the show and not only the dimensional features.

These are the so-called "Ogre glasses". Pretty neat-o!

We visited The Lost World after that. Ring any bells? Yes, Jurassic Park. We went on this boat ride where you'll be introduced to various dinosaurs along the way and slid down unexpectedly. It was a wet ride indeed! After The Lost World, we went to Egypt. I was thinking of what movie the theme represented and after I saw the giant statues of the Egyptians, The Mummy suddenly popped into my mind. We even went into the roller-coaster ride, but this time; Tayib got the chills! Nevertheless, the ride was terrific! We were done with Egypt and off we headed to this place called Sci-Fi City with the huge roller-coaster. Thank goodness it was closed because I so didn't want to ride it. Yes, I'm afraid of big roller-coasters. :( Didn't spend much time here so our next visit was Hollywood.

It really felt like you were actually in Hollywood itself. I even saw a woman dressed as Betty Boop. She was hot. XTRA HOT! :o) No rides there though.

Handsome boy with an old-school car.

The last visit was to WaterWorld. I didn't recognize the theme. It was also a soaked session. We were seated in the amphitheatre and waited for the show to begin. The show started late so as part of the entertainment, the actors soaked mostly everyone whether young or old. They somehow enjoyed it too! Finally when the show began, some serious action was going on. There were using pyrotechnics and other gadgets too. The acting was good, the storyline was fantastic and the characters were funny. I couldn't believe my eyes when a seaplane blasted out from the walls into the water. That part was awesome!

Since we're done exploring Universal Studios, we went back to the hotel and rested for a while. Our rest came to a halt because we were going to go out again to Clark Quay to check out G-Max. I didn't want to ride on the reverse bungee because I was already tired, but Tayib forced me to. He paid for the tickets as well so I had no other choice but to go. We were all set on the ride and we were high up - almost a 90 degree's height. We waited for the green light and were already eager to get it over with. When the green light flashed, Ka Fee said that she'd count to three, but tricked herself and came down saying out the wrong number. It was one HELL of a ride! Seriously! I'll upload the video that Malik took later on.

We took a taxi to Lucky Plaza in Orchard Road and bought some more video games. It's great because two of the stores there know me so I can get discounts. Besides, it's the end of the year and they should have the courtesy to give 'em. I bought a new PS3 game and Malik bought two games. I feel like I was missing something and so I went down again to check things out. I just remembered that I need USB cables to recharge my PS3 controllers. This guy got me a neat PS3 chargers where you can just plug it in a socket and charge 'em from there + additional two USB cables. He even promoted a cooling fan to go with the chargers. I wanted them anyway.

I'll post up the pictures for today later on. If I'm not too tired.. Thanks for reading this long messy post.

Welcome to Singapore! [Pt 5]

Omar's here! He's chilling with us at the moment. He's playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II with the guys. He just bought the game earlier! So about today..

First, we went to Vivo City and ate at Carl Jr's. The food there was awesome! Can you believe it that one burger is enough to fill up your hunger? You can even choose your own drink by self-service. After that, we went to a game shop called Talk. Malik and Hakiim bought two PS3 controllers which costed $72 each and I bought an HD cable. Hehehe! Now I can give Omar back his HD cable back in Brunei.

We only did an hour of shopping? After that, we went back to the hotel and rested for a while. Omar wanted to go and look around Orchard Road which was the right time because I've wanted to go to Orchard Road since the day I reached Singapore. Omar bought two PS3 controllers, COD:BO and COD:MW2. I bought two new games, Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare and FIFA 11 and a PSN card. I got them cheap alright! Lucky Plaza is like, a gaming heaven. After Lucky Plaza, we walked a long way to find a zebra-crossing and headed on to Ion. There were MUCH to look there. It's a place for shopaholics! Seriouzzz!

I'm going to go and eat now. The food's here. 'Til next time!

Welcome to Singapore! [Pt 4]

My uncle bought us tickets to watch a nightlife entertainment - a theatrical circus spectacular; the Voyage de la Vie here in Resorts World Sentosa.

"Voyage de la Vie" – "Journey of Life" – tells a Boy's metaphoric journey to adulthood. Join the Boy on an adventure to discover his identity as he meets memorable characters like the mysterious Lantern Keeper and the Crystal Cat. Told through energetic dance, athletic circus arts and catchy songs, catch Singapore's first theatrical circus spectacular at Resorts World Sentosa.

We couldn't capture many photographs during the show because it was strictly prohibited. These are only the shots that Tayib took secretly. Even no video recording! Nevertheless, the show was amazingly breath-taking! - well, except for the singing part.

Welcome to Singapore! [Pt 3]

It's been kind of a rough morning. I only had a few hours of sleep because last night, I watched this long, boring yet funny movie called 'Get Him To The Greek'.

English rock star Aldous Snow relapses into drugs and booze after a break up and a disastrous record. In L.A., Aaron Green works for a record company stuck in recession. Aaron's boss gives him a career making task - to bring Aldous from London to L.A. for a concert in 72 hours. That day, Aaron's girlfriend Daphne tells him she wants to finish her medical residency in Seattle. Aaron's sure this ends their relationship. In London, things aren't much better: Aldous delays their departure several times, plies Aaron with vices, and alternates between bad behavior and trenchant observations. Can Aaron moderate Aldous's substance abuse and get him to the Greek? What about Daphne? -Written by

We left the hotel to go shopping around 12 because I woke up late. I didn't even shower! We used the monorail and went to Vivo City(sp?). But before that, we had lunch at Food Republic. All we had was nasi lemak. You can choose your own side fillings.

After that, it got interesting. We bought our winter coats and shirts from shops such as ZARA and River Island. Guess what? The stuffs that I wanted to buy in Miri, I bought them here!

Chelsea's Home kit. ($99)
Chelsea's 2nd Away kit. ($99)

The Sims 3! ($74)

It's only the second day in Singapore and I'm already on a shopping spree! Other day awaits. Maybe meet up with Omar and Fathul.

Welcome to Singapore! [Pt 2]

Living room. We requested extra beds. That's why it looks so comfortable.

The bedroom.

Voila! Ze toilet.

The music player. That's my iPod there! Hehehe.

The nightly view from the balcony.

The view to the right of the balcony.

More to be uploaded soon!

Welcome to Singapore!

Did the whole 5CS come to the airport to send us off? It was very kind of them to show their faces today for I won't be seeing them for 2 weeks. Zul, Memet, Dedeh and Fizah were there to send me off as well! InsyaAllah I will get the stuffs you wrote down in the envelope. Just a thought: If you guys have webcam, I'd be more than happy to do so because honestly, the internet here is super fast!

The flight was normal as always although I still get the chills when the plane starts to shake. The food was delightful. We had seafood. Halfway through the journey, I slept until we landed. Tayib secretly snapped a photo of us sleeping. Hahaha!

We arrived here in Singapore around 2:30 PM. We were a bit late because we had a little trouble at the immigration. Unsure of where we were going to stay, four of us stated Hayat Hotel. Turns out we're staying at Crockfords Hotel, Sentosa. This place is just AMAZING! The room is beautiful; what more to say about the toilet. I'll upload pictures here in Crockfords later. I'm currently chilling at our own hotel room's balcony. It's cold! The weather's gloomy and windy. I can even see the cable cars alternating slowly back and forth from here. More beauties of Singapore awaits..

Happy belated birthday!

Happy 17th Birthday Haji Sahrul Sahari!
Probably one of the funniest guy I have ever known! Despite all the annoyance and disturbance and as part of the back seat boys, you will never be replaced. Hope you enjoyed dinner with us in Kiulap last night! May Allah bless you always.
