The deeper you go, the darker it gets. Many fish who live at 2,000 feet or deeper have their own flashlights. They are luminous--they glow with light-producing cells. This light helps them get around in the blackness and attract prey. Other fish are blind--since they can't see down there, they never developed functioning eyes. Most of all, it's cold at the bottom--sometimes as cold as 28 degrees Fahrenheit.
