Our plan to stay at the beach to fish until dawn didn't last that long. Fathul's girlfriend, Malai joined the fun too. We had to call it a night because the water was slowly rising and the hooks-stuck-on-the-rocks incident still happened. Searching for a nice spot to fish, we ventured down to the rocks below. Guess what we used for bait? Chicken's heart -- smelly as hell. There were no live prawns because the place closed early. Actually, it was obviously a wrong time for us to buy them anyway. We had a hard time going up and down the rocky area.
Due to the slippery sharp rocks, Afiq suffered cuts on his foot while Fikri suffered on his foot and his hands. Good thing that there were no serious injuries and I got none. Finally, the three of us settled down and fished but the hook problem still occurred, plus it was windy so we started moving to one place and eventually, to another. Cautiously looking out for where we were going to step on, Fikri saw a grey-colored crab and planned to catch it. He started removing the small boulders which were blocking the way but the crab just went deeper inside. That's when we started the "hunt" -- for whatever little critters lurking there. We saw a mudskipper, dull-looking fishes, red-eyed prawns and a group of crabs. We caught two big crabs. All thanks to Fikri's sharp eyes and Afiq's catching skills.
An odd creature appeared as we went further. Fikri spotted a snake, laying helplessly on one of the rocks. Immediate reactions and not wanting to cause any problem, we quickly hurried back carefully. This might sound gay but we held each other's hand to be safe. Fikri, being the first to climb up while leading the way, nearly slipped and knocked his head. He said that he was saving Afiq's mobile phone instead of his own life! Funny guy. Thank goodness he got a hold of me and took control. Afiq said that there is a history there about a small boy who died drowning at the same area that we were in. Creepy.
The two crabs are outside on Zul's verandah now. I've got a question. What do crabs eat anyway? Hmm..
